Holland Conservation Commission


Minutes of Commission meeting held on July 31, 2007.

Present:  Mary vandenBerg, Chairperson, Steven Anderstrom, Patricia Caron, Howard Fife, Rolf Hilbig.  Absent:  James Wettlaufer.

7:00 p.m.  Chairperson called the meeting to order.

Minutes of 7-24-2007 need to be amended to include this additional information:  Normand Coriveau of  addressStreet77 East Brimfield Rd., Pink Sheet No. 2006-1201 to build a new house was signed.  All work will be road side of 656 Line.

7:15 p.m.  Mary and Dave Cowley who, in April purchased their property at addressStreet6 Stony Hill Rd., spoke of their concerns regarding the excessive amount of trees being removed for a septic leech field adjacent to their property owned by Tom Baltazar.  Following discussion, they were advised to speak to Andre Cormier, Jr. of Escape Estates who is constructing storm water management along addressStreetMountain Rd., addressStreetStony Hill Rd. and addressStreetSandy Beach Rd.

7:25 p.m.  Eileen Reinhardt of addressStreetForrest Dr. spoke of her concerns regarding the small pond by the little causeway, filling up with weeds, algae and beginning to smell.  We recommended that she attend a Lake Oversite Committee meeting which is to be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. to inform them of her concerns.

7:35 p.m.  The Public Hearing of a Notice of Intent for Dave and Terry Walker of 85 Sandy Beach Rd., Map R-39-F-1, DEP File #184-0219 and Procedure Sheet No. 2006-1147 to rebuild existing cottage was presented by Mark Farrell of Green Hill Engineering.  No abutters came.  Vicky McCourt, Architect, along with Dave and Terry Walker were present.  Following discussions, the Order of Conditions are to include “replace trees with hardwood trees”.  All were in favor of closing the Hearing at 8:00 p.m.  A $50.00 check paying for the Legal Ad was presented.

7:55 p.m.  Tony Benedetto of addressStreetLakeshore Dr. called requesting a flood map – Arrangements were made.

8:05 p.m.  James Jenks of 3 Massaconnic Trail spoke of his concerns regarding the erosion of his shoreline.  Rip Rap stones were recommended as the best and most cost effective method to control erosion.
 
Motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved by all. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
